Course Description: 
In this course, students will explore the theme of Humans and Their Environments by reading a compelling novel set during a challenging period in history. They will analyze complex characters and universal themes such as loss, war, love, sacrifice, resilience, and integrity while strengthening their reading strategies and critical thinking skills. Students will also develop their writing by constructing clear arguments and supporting their ideas with strong textual evidence. This is the second course in a two-part Eighth-Grade English series. This course also encompasses Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
